Arctic Mineral Resources is a junior mining company based in Norway with a focus on sustainable mining projects in Europe.

We deliver economically viable industrial solutions that are based on strong social and environmental principles combined with innovative thinking. In an industry that's comfortable to operate in silos, we believe progress can come from new perspectives.

Our mission is to challenge standard practice in the mineral resource industry by creating better solutions.

History

Arctic Mineral Resources was founded at the beginning of 2018 after 8 landowners in Vevring, the management consultancy Arctic Minerals Management AS, and the Norwegian mining veteran Robert Hermansen saw the opportunity to develop a sustainable mining project in Vevring applying underground mining without onshore waste rock deposits or tailings disposal in the fjord.

Management Team

  • Tore Viana-Rønningen, CEO

    Tore has experience from corporate finance, risk management, and mining investments as a private equity investment professional in Barclays Natural Resource Investments (’07-’11) and investment banker in Barclays Capital (’05-’07). He has broad management experience from listed and private companies with an extensive mining industry network.

  • Hege Tinnesand, CFO

    Hege has experience from management positions in listed and private companies, including working with companies from early start-ups to IPO and through trade sale. She has previous experience as CFO in several companies, including a listed shipping company, an international offshore business, and most recently in a listed cyber technology company.

  • Ethan Barnes, Geologist

    Ethan is a geologist with experience in mineral exploration and underground mining in Australia, Scandinavia and Greenland. He has knowledge of mineral reporting codes and associated processes, diamond core drilling and analytical methods. M.Sc. in sustainable and innovative natural resource management.

  • Nils Egil Johannessen, process engineer

    Nils Egil has more than 50 years of experience from the industrial mineral industry as manager and process engineer. He is regarded as one of Norway’s leading experts in industrial minerals processing. He has experience from Sibelco Nordic (’09-’16), North Cape Minerals (’94-’08), Franzefoss (’88-’93), Norfloat (’68-’87), and received Bergmannstaven, the Norwegian Mining Association’s highest award, in 2021.

Senior Advisors

  • Robert Hermansen, Advisor and mine engineer

    Robert has more than 50 years of experience from the mining industry in management positions and as mine engineer. He is the former CEO of Store Norske (’99-’08) and Odda Smelteverk (’84-’99) and received Bergmannstaven, the Norwegian Mining Association’s highest award, in 2003.

  • Knut Petter Netland, Advisor and mine engineer

    Knut Petter has experience from production and production planning of mineral extraction and is currently Senior Project Development at Titania AS, a KRONOS company. He is the former Quarry Manager in NorStone and Mine Manager at Titania AS and Norsk Stein AS.

Board

  • Arnold Rørholt, Chairman of the Board

    Lawyer with an international background within natural resources law. Former Senior and Managing Partner and Head of Natural Resources in Schjodt, a leading Norwegian law firm. Former CEO / Chairman of Norcon PLC, a multinational telecom and defence consultancy. Has occupied several non-executive positions.

  • Veronica Standal, Board Member

    Veronica has joined the NORSE Diamond Drilling team as Administration Manager and is very active participating in various local organisations. Veronica is a landowner in Vevring who holds ownership interests in AMR.

  • Stian Thingnes, Board Member

    Stian is an Environmental therapist at the child and adolescent psychiatric clinic in Førde hospital and has a very active participation and dialogue with conservation organisations in Norway. Stian is a landowner in Vevring with ownership interests in AMR.
